I'm real very pleased to be offering up the brand new album from My North Eye aka french dark folk artist Yann Lafosse. This is his third release on Reverb Worship, a new seven track album entitled "(My) North Eye which was recorded in one day in the french countryside in the summer of 2011. All the songs were written with his very good friend Mathias Asadour. After the session Mathias decided he didn’t want to play the violin in a band in front of an audience any more. Yann respected his decision but was disappointed because he is a great bloke and Yann thought he brought something special and lyrical to his songs. He now only plays the violin alone to himself.Yann listened to the session late last year and decided he had to release it. I guess Yann needed to move on.Yann included a sample of a song by Patsy Cline. It's the song the character is listening to in the first song on the album "A cigarette and a song".The "The road that never ends" comes from a line he read in "Light in August" by William Faulkner so when he was thinking of cover images for the album he felt it had to be a road but a french road not an american road.Yann goes on to say "The more I think about it,when you are french like me, you can’t really write songs about highways. There is no devil, no crossroads to sell you soul at where I come from. The song is more about an interior journey, an endless
quest. Maybe it’s a song about my relationship to music". Roger Linney, reverb Worship
